A few years back, I used a low watt lay-down bed to try and create a base tan. Living in the Northwest, it's very difficult to keep a healthy looking glow year round. The results were less than satisfactory, so I discontinued. Last year, I tried again. This time, using a stand-up higher watt booth. Found myself getting burned very quickly. Upon adjusting the time according to some advice from the salon employee, I became much happier with the result. Only took me 3-4 times before I had a noticeable base tan. I am very satisfied with the salon I go to now, and extremely pleased with the stand up tan booth (avoids under-arm missed spots).

Word to the wise: ask around, for a good tan salon, and brush up on what beds are best for your skin type! Finding someone who actually knows what service they're selling helps a lot!

I got a three month unlimited package at my local tanning salon last year. I haven't always been a huge fan of tanning, but I found that I liked it a lot. It made me feel relaxed and happy, not to mention...all your clothes look better when your skin is tan, you look slimmer and sexier. I used the stand up bed for eight minutes per session about three times a week until I developed a nice, deep base tan. After two weeks, I cut back to twice a week to maintain it. The best part, no tan lines. The stand up bed is awesome because you can really get an even tan.

Like others that have posted here, I too agree that there can be positives to tanning. All you ever hear are the negatives. Personally, I suffer from depression and I feel like the nice glow that I get from a tan as well as the Vitamin D make me feel happier. This comes in VERY handy during the winter months when things are gloomy outside. I do believe that tanning should be done in moderation and proper lotions and moisturizers should be used in order to protect your skin. Tanning also relaxes me. When I can, I will stop on my way home from work before picking up the kiddos so I can unwind a bit and de-stress! I love tanning!!!

I love using a tanning bed, it relaxes me and makes me feel good, never mind everybody looks better tan. I used to tan all year round, now i stop in the winter and start again in april or may, just when you have cabin fever and need to get some much needed color, the long winter takes a toll on you and your attitude. i use the future sun bed, which is ten min max. that's a lot better then the 20 min. beds they had when i first started.

I think the tanning bed is a great thing!!! It seems to pick me up when I am having a yucky day!! Tanning beds are great for single people who have to work two jobs to make it in today's world, faster than having to lay out an hour on one side turn over and tan for an hour on the other side. My friends laugh at me when they ask how do you get all those hard areas tan, and I show them all the different ways I lay in the bed to get all the hard areas!!!

I am a beginner when it comes to tanning. As I got older it seemed harder and harder to obtain a tan and not burn. So I have decided to give indoor tanning a try. The first time I used a matrix bed which is double sided and only takes 12 minutes. I got a pretty decent increase in color (I am quite light skinned) I didn't get a chance to go back and had to start over. I then tried the regular euro bed in which you have to turn 12 minutes in. I actually liked this one. It was comfortable and the extra 12 minutes was not bad. I got a decent color on this one too. If I had to choose it would probably be the matrix just because of the time.

I don't tan very well in the sun. But tanning at the tanning salon in the nicer beds turns me so dark. I don't burn my skin. I like to use lotions with bronzer so that will get me a nice even color.

In my personal opinion, I much more prefer Vertical Beds. I am a little overweight, and the horizontal beds always seem to leave white lines. In the Stand Up beds i do not have this problem, and to me its much more fun because I jam out to the music. So exercise and a Tan! Nothing is better than that! Also i just wanted to state that tanning for some reason really makes me happier, and have a better sense of well being. I dunno, its just nice to go tanning and have a peach smoothie!

In these days of making every penny count, I still am unable to give up my tanning. For many years I have used tanning beds, both in the UK and the US. I have recently started at new place and using a different bed. I prefer a bed although occasionally I'll top up in a booth. I have found the new Suncapule 7 minute booth to make a dramatic difference to my tan. But for cost effectiveness, high pressure with a 7 minute booth every four time gives me the best tan for my dollar.
